Re: FoE and APE Scenaro across WAN question

I will do my best to answer.

  1. Passive server is NOT running as an additional poller, it is basically a full blown Orion installation.  Now what happens is assuming the secondary Orion server in the US is on a different subnet, which most are you can do one of two things.  First, instead of having your users use an IP Address to access the Orion web console, do it via DNS.  Then when a failover occurs from the UK to the US, as part of the failover we will update DNS to point to the IP Address of the US server.
  2. The secondary Orion services are not running.  We typically recommend at least two NIC's, one for normal server communication, this is the IP users would hit or you would tie to DNS and the secondary would be for heartbeat, server replication, etc. for the FoE product.  We have methods in place in the software to try and avoid split brain.
  3. This is not a possible or realistic deployment scenario with FoE.
  4. Same as #3

As I was discussing before, may make sense to discuss offline on your planned deployment strategy and we can discuss how all the parts can and cannot work together.
