We're working on finishing up the 1.8 SDK update, but I don't have a date for you. In general the tools in the SDK 1.7 should connect to NPM 10.6 just fine.

I found the issue. The account used to connect to Orion cant be a Windows AD account it has to be a local Orion administrator account. I was able to use the default admin account to connect to it....
